D. Jeanne Ross began studying piano very early and earned degrees at UNC Chapel Hill in piano and foreign language: after studying French, she turned her linguistic focus to Russian at the same time she was pursuing music. After university, she established a piano studio where she trained students recognized for outstanding performance in recitals, workshops and competitions. Ms. Ross also taught French in a progressive NC magnet school program & trained in ESL education.
In a career turn, Ms. Ross began pursuing theater. Lured to NYC, she quickly had her own off-Broadway productions up & running. Ms. Ross co-wrote plays and performed musically in all productions. Later, she became involved in the NYC music industry- first with ASCAP, then with EMI Music Publishing.
Presently, Ms. Ross teaches privately, performs, writes, and produces. She is Associate Producer on 2 Grammy-nominated Latin jazz recordings (Hot House: A Cuban Tribute to Charlie Parker, and Hot House @ Street Level) and co-write/editor on a latin music book, Trumpet Salsa.
Ms. Ross' teaching experience in NYC (since 2000) includes over a decade at Monroe College in liberal arts, and some 8 years as a consultant at Consortium for Worker Education, NY Presbyterian Hospital, and 1199 SEIU. She held a full-time upper school French/Spanish teaching position at Léman Manhattan Preparatory School for 3 years, and at School of the Blessed Sacrament in 2018-19, where she served as World Language Program Coordinator and French teacher.
